Recipe # 31 – Dan Dan noodles
Yet another delicious stir-fry, I mean, come on, what is not to like about having honey and beef together in the same dish!
It is really simple/easy to put together and certainly 20 minute worthy.
I was also FINALLY able to get my grubby paws on REAL Szechuan peppercorns, courtesy of ‘The Cape Spice Emporium’, a real treat and I no longer need to ‘fake it’ with Black Peppercorns, which taste NOTHING like these, which are quite special!
Sadly though I couldn’t find bok choi anywhere, which is really strange as they are easily found at both Woolies and Pick ‘n Pay so I ended up substituted it with Spinach, a fair trade off I thought.
I can see by your post that you still have not been to the N1 city value centre’s chinese supermarket :P
Hi Hila,
Nope, not yet, I try shop local and drive as little as possible these days, not only is it environmentally friendly, it save son gas as well. I’m a bit of a creature of habit and rarely out that neck of the woods, but it is on the ‘to do’ list.
Cheers
Matt
It really is worth the drive an rarely requires more than 1 visit a month (if not less) as most of their stuff can be bought bulk (cheaper too)
Sushi rice for instance is R30 for 2kg
Wow! That is a considerable saving over… well lets just say… the competition. I will certainly make a turn when I’m next in the area.
